This week was so beyond exciting for me because Blushington Blooms let me design and arrange my first bridal bouquet for a girl named Jessica! I was nervous at first, but I quickly became excited!
One thing that I struggled with at the beginning of the internship was having fear that they would not like what I arranged. And although this will always be a factor anywhere I work, I have learned you cannot let that hold you back or steal your confidence. We all have our own creative eye and what we think looks beautiful, therefore, nothing anyone designs can be ugly.
So, my thought process for the bouquet was to create one that looks similar to what they have done in the past because that is what the bride wanted. I used a chicken wire egg - which I have talked about in previous blog posts - for my mechanics. Next, I added all my greenery which was mostly smilax and a little bit of eucalyptus. Then I started adding inverted roses and created an oblong shape. After I got pretty far on the roses I added other mass and filler flowers as I thought looked good and ended up with the finished product pictured below!
I really enjoyed being able to design this bouquet and definitely felt special that they asked me to do it even though this was just an internship! Pretty awesome! :)
For this wedding I also got to design the boutonnieres which were really cute and different then ones I have done in the past. These are made of mostly just greenery! I make these by clipping lots of little greenery pieces and then arrange them into mini bouquets. Then I use some floral tape to hold them together!
