Sadly, the final wedding set-up has come and gone along with my last day as an intern with Blushington Blooms.
This past Saturday we headed out to The Brooks at Weatherford venue to take bouquets, center pieces, alter arrangement and a mantle piece. I was excited to see this venue because it is a common one that Blushington goes to. It was really lovely. It had a small white chapel that can be indoor or outdoor, and there is also a reception area across the way.
When we first arrived to the venue we checked the flowers and made sure there were no dead ones before handing out the bridesmaid and bridal bouquets. Next, we started installing a wreath on site to a mantle piece. For this we used all smilax for the greenery and then added roses and spray roses for added pop and dimension. We had some difficultly getting the wreath to balance and we ended up having to wire the wreath to a nail in the wall so that is would not fall. This was good for me to learn how to handle a stressful situation when something does not go your way.
After that was finished, I set out my box center pieces and made sure everything looked in order! We did a few other miscellaneous things and then headed out! This wedding set-up concluded my time as an intern at Blushington Blooms!
I cannot even express how much I have learned from this internship. Before doing this I really had no idea what it took to be a wedding florist. Now, having completed this internship, I can say that I learned about the design process and business side of the industry. I feel much more confident on my ability to succeed in this industry, and most importantly I feel inspired and excited for my career after college.
I truly enjoyed interning with Blushington Blooms and am thankful for such a great opportunity and environment to learn and grow!
